KATHMANDU, June 22: Former Police Chief Om Bikram Rana, who is also among main accused in the Sudan scam, on Thursday refused to accept summons issued by the Special Court.
The court has issued summons to all the 34 police officials accused in the scam.Lalitpur District Court´s process server Udhhav Thapa returned without handing over the summon letter to Rana after the latter flatly refused to accept it.
“I am currently busy consulting my lawyers on the issue. I will accept the letter after consulting the lawyers,” Thapa quoted Rana as saying.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against 36 persons, including 34 police officials, accusing them of embezzling Rs 290 million while procuring Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) and other logistics for Nepali peacekeepers deployed in Darfur, Sudan.
